Casper Buijtendijk (Maarssen, 1996) is a visual, musical and performance artist based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. After graduating as a director from the Netherlands Film Academy in 2018, he found interdisciplinairy freedom in alternative pop project Waakhond.
Both autonomously and on commission, Casper is interested in the processes of healing and self development of the individual, as the arena of collective growth. He translates this movement into form on the intersection of popular media and art.
Exploring body and biography, he searches to express the metaphysical through the mundane, using deep vulnerability as a starting point for themes of intimacy, sexuality, and spirituality.
Casper’s work has been shown at, among others, EYE Filmmuseum Amsterdam, NPO (VPRO), De Pont Tilburg, Into The Great Wide Open Vlieland, De Balie Amsterdam, Josilda da Conceição Gallery Amsterdam and De Grote Nederlandse Kunstkalender, performing in venues such as Tivoli Vredenburg Utrecht and Frascati Amsterdam, with publications on platforms like 3voor12 and Glamcult.
