a testimony (2025)

Directed by / Cinematograpy

Everyone carries traces of exclusion, but the fear of judgment often keeps them hidden.

In the short performative film a testimony, theater artist Adelheid Roosen and performance artist Leendert Vooijce break this silence, and become each other’s witness.

French philosopher Emmanuel Levinas said: ‘I am only free in the face of the Other’.

Adelheid and Leendert open their inner world and invite the viewer as the third witness in their search for healing, a movement between raw vulnerability and playful beauty. Being radically open, they create a space for reflection that turns visible the way in which age-old ideas about gender, identity, heteronormative structures and female rage are shaped within the dynamics of exclusion.

a testimony has been screened in De Pont Tilburg, De Balie Amsterdam, and during Breda Photo.
